The Brain-Body Communication
“90% of the stimulation and nutrition to the brain is generated by the movement of the spine.”
The body has millions of neurotransmitters that relay information to and from your brain constantly. When we exercise, all movements start with our core - which is our spine. Our brain tracks joint movement via mechanoreceptors. Mechanoreceptors sense joint motion and location (think of this as a little GPS in each of our joints). This brain-body communication through mechanoreceptors acts like wind to a windmill and stimulates brain activity through healthy joint movement.
The spine has a direct connection with your brain, spinal cord, and overall organ function. The spine houses the spinal cord, and the movement of the spine sends messages up to the brain which the brain responds to and sends messages down to the rest of the body telling it what to do.
Therefore, it is imperative that the spine moves optimally. If there are any restrictions in the spine affecting the messages to and from the brain this significantly decreases the input to the brain. It is like the brain having a lack of nutrients. This relationship means that poor posture and spinal health will lead to an overall decrease in brain and organ function. Bad posture is a modern day health epidemic that is much worse than most people realise.
Did you know:
▪️ 90% of the stimulation and nutrition to the brain is generated by the movement of the spine.
▪️ Only 10% of our brain’s energy goes into thinking, metabolism, immunity, and healing.
▪️90% of brain energy goes into processing and maintaining the body’s relationship with gravity (your posture).
▪️ Leaning or hunching forward can affect your lung capacity by as much as 30 percent.
Chiropractors are experts in assessing spinal/extra-spinal movements and function and restoring loss of movement and function. This enhances the way the person sees and perceives the world, the way they function, their quality of life and ultimately their health.
